North Pole race

Read an interesting link from Ben Saunders site about a South Pole Tips PDF from the guys running the South Pole Marathon this year. It’s short but interesting, and made me think again about mine and Karen Darke’s hopes to ski/kite FROM the Pole - a plan that probably needs more money than can be begged from UK business at the moment. Seeing as I have a bit of a thing about people making a big deal about their holidays, it looks like the only option is to get famous enough to get some TV company to commit to such a crazy scheme. We’re making a program for BBC 2 Scotland in January in Patagonia (sea kayaking), and this direction looks like a better bet then begging for money from bankers and insurance companies (BTW been told I can’t carry out any crazy soloing until I get life insurance).
Reading the PDF reminded me of something I wrote a while back based on my experiences crossing Greenland, and so if there’s anyone out there planning on doing the race, then check it out here.
